The Explorers

We have been rehearsing some new songs for our live set. We tried a few out and several new songs made the cut. So soon to arrive in an Explorers set near you we have new versions of:

Come Together – We played a nice and sleazy version of this. Great vocals from Leita and cool playing from Alan on Guitar

The Scientist – We toyed with doing this a while back. At rehearsal we tried about four different keys. Thanks to Chris Martyn this song has parts that are too low for female vocals and a challenge for most male falsetto. It sounded better than we thought once we had nailed the structure. Thanks also to an episode of Glee for providing the inspiration for the version we ended up with.

Like a Prayer – Lets face it, hardly any bands in a bar take on Madonna! This one is a joy to play with Leita taking the lead and the rest of us doing our best impersonation of a gospel choir. I have mentioned that we are adding this to our set and most musos do the ‘raised eyebrow’ look.

I’d Rather Go Blind – One for Kim to belt out (and she does). Strangly I got home and found a version of this on the album by Joe Bonnamassa and Beth Hart which is certainly a great benchmark for how this song can sound
